I had a dream that I, 35F, had gone back to school to get an unknown masters degree and there was an older man working at the school who I used to have a sexual relationship with. I would try and avoid him but also wanted him to try to speak with me. I avoided him until graduation where he sat directly behind me, with his wife, and some friends of mine and learned forward and asked me if I would like to work for him after graduation. I said nothing but was shown the office and it was my same office from an old job. He sat down next to my desk and asked me how life had been since the last time we saw each other and told me that he missed my company. I still said nothing. It started storming and it was time to leave. I walked outside and the street looked like one out of a college campus with trolleys and cars leaving. Then I woke up.
Dreams often incorporate elements from our past, present experiences, and emotions, weaving them into narratives that might reflect our inner thoughts and feelings. Here are some interpretations of the elements in your dream:
Back to School: Returning to school could symbolize a desire for personal growth, learning, or a transition in your life. It may also reflect feelings about self-improvement or pursuing new opportunities.
The Older Man: The presence of the man with whom you had a previous relationship suggests unresolved feelings or thoughts about that relationship. Your attempts to avoid him while simultaneously wanting to engage may symbolize conflicting emotions—perhaps a need to confront some past feelings or a desire for closure.
Graduation: This represents a culmination of efforts or a significant transition in your life. It might signify the end of one phase and the beginning of another, potentially relating to your current life's path or the progress you've made in your personal or professional life.
The Office: Returning to your old office might indicate feelings about your past work experiences, suggesting nostalgia, unresolved issues, or a longing for the familiarity of past roles. This could also symbolize aspects of your identity tied to your professional life.
Storm: Stormy weather often represents turmoil or emotional unrest. It could indicate that you are experiencing some anxiety regarding change or decisions in your life.
Trolleys and Cars: The college campus setting suggests a focus on learning and social interactions. It may highlight feelings about your current social circle or connections to your past.
In summary, your dream seems to revolve around themes of personal growth, unresolved emotions from a past relationship, and a reflection on your professional identity. It may be signaling a need to reconcile these aspects of your life as you navigate new opportunities or transitions. Consider what each element means to you personally, as dream interpretations can vary significantly based on individual experiences.
